Nanotechnology, simply put, is the creation of materials at the near-atomic, or nanometer, level. 1nm is a 100,000th the diameter of a human hair, which is about the size of 3 or 4 atoms. Nanotechnology makes it possible to manipulate materials at a molecular or even atomic level. Materials that are at the nanometer level exhibit new unique properties, which could create a range of high value commercial and industrial applications. |
